Funding of Network Activities

EERA Council has agreed to financially sponsor activities initiated by Networks.Applications should be submitted to EERA one month prior to Council meetings taking place in January, June and September.
EERA Officers will examine applications ensuring that all requests are within budget.

A maximum sum per project has been fixed at 5000. Travel costs will only be considered under certain conditions. Project funding does not include any overheads.

The following should be considered when requesting EERA project funding.

  • The proposal should outline how the project will operate to further European Educational Research in accordance with EERA’s objectives.
  • Define how the project will contribute, support and develop a Network’s
    initiatives and/or objectives and to EERA’s objectives.
  • The rationale for the proposal should be pragmatic with an indicator of the timeframe in which the project should be completed.  (Please note that the EERA Office will not be in a position to provide administrative support for this activity but will be able to offer advice on procedural issues.)  

 All applications should be submitted on the proforma. Guidelines are as follows:

  • Length: 400-600 words
  • Description of the project to be undertaken (purpose and work)
  • Details of participants, including area of expertise and the name of the project leader
  • Expected outcomes/benefits of the project
  • Timescale of the project
  • Budget: detail list of expenditure with costs
  • Details of institutional account.

Criteria for evaluating Network funding applications:

  • An application should have the endorsement of the Network Link-convenor(s).
  • The funded activity should benefit both the Network and EERA
  • Each Network will normally only have funding for one application every other year
  • All applications should address issue of capacity building (Next Generation of Emerging Researchers and researchers in LOW GdP Countries))
  • All applications should normally demonstrate how at least three European countries participate.
  • The application should be very specific in terms of outputs, e.g.: databases, publication (journal or book), putting together trans-national research bid/application, meeting between academics and practitioners, networking.
  • Where requests are made for travel and subsistence they must demonstrate how they relate to the application outputs.
  • The same project will (normally) not be funded more than one time.
  • EERA will not fund activities which involve the transfer of money to publishing houses.
  • EERA will not fund personal/institutional research time.
