VETNET Regulations
The regulations of the VETNET network were amended:
The Board proposed that the following changes would be introduced with immediate effect:
- Instead of having one single Convenor (elected by the Board), VETNET will adopt the model of an Executive Committee that consists of the outgoing Convenor, the Convenor and a Deputy Convenor. The fourth (co-opted) member of the Executive Committee will be the VETNET programme chair of the forthcoming ECER conference.
- The term of office for the member of Executive Committee will be two years. The Elections of the Convenor and the Deputy Convenor for the period 2011 – 2013 should be arranged immediately in the General Assembly.
- The VETNET Board shall establish an online Membership List (for members to sign in) that enables broader participation than the current pattern.
- VETNET will adopt the pattern of inviting Honorary Fellows. The annual General Assembly shall have possibility to invite at the maximum two Honorary Fellows.
- An ad-hoc committee shall be elected to prepare a proposal for a more thorough revision of the VETNET regulations.
After a brief discussion, all the above mentioned proposals were accepted unanimously by the Members of the VETNET Assembly. The following persons were elected to the ad-hoc committee for revising the VETNET regulations and developing a proposal to the next VETNET assembly in CADIZ 2012: Martin Mulder (University of Wageningen), Johanna Lasonen (University of South Florida) and Joanna Burchert (University of Bremen).
Elections of convenor and and deputy convenor
Two nominations were presented:
- For the office of Convenor Prof. Dr. Michael Gessler from the University of Bremen, ITB;
- For the office of Deputy Convenor Dr. Margaret Malloch from the University of East London.
Both candidates were elected unanimously by the participants of the General Assembly at Berling on the 16th September 2011.
By this decision an Excecutive Committee is formed that consists of the outgoing Convenor (Ludger Deitmer), the Convenor (Michael Gessler) and a Deputy Convenor (Marg Malloch). The fourth (co-opted) member of the Executive Committee will be the VETNET programme chair of the forthcoming ECER conference. For the preparations ECER 2012 Fernando Marhuenda from Valencia was appointed as the VETNET programme chair.
Future Plans
We are currently collecting presentations and papers from the presenters. After next year's ECER we want to publish a book with best papers and an overview of the European research landscape in VET.
We want to apply for a small project called “History of ECER VET-Research”. The output will be an overview of discussions and discussion paths since the first ECER Conference on our VETNET-Homepage. On the one hand, this is a research topic in itself. On the other hand, it will strengthen the identity of our network and helps new people to come in more easily.
Furthermore, we would like to develop patterns that convince participants to send their presentations and papers to us in advance of the conference and to submit them to the annual VETNET Proceedings.
Website
The internet infrastructure of VETNET is now arranged as followed:
1. Social networking site for VETNET:
http://vetnet.mixxt.org
This new site Provides details of VETNET conference events and of basic information on VETNET. Also the research profiles of potential researchers in the field are presented. In addition, it is intended to enable VETNET members to collaborate between conferences and events at European level.
2. EERA Networks:
http://www.eera-ecer.eu/networks/network2
Short overview of VETNET objectives, activities, convenors, history and annual reports – based on information provided by the VETNET Board.
3. ECER VETNET Proceedings
http://www.ecer-vetnet.wifo-gate.org
